Buying Guides

Choose protection for your outdoor space.

Preventive protection for the outdoor part of home. Start with what you want to cover, then check the fit, the details, and how you will use it.

Start with the item.

Choose a cover intended for your type of furniture or equipment. A sofa, a chair, a dining arrangement, and an air conditioner each need their own fit check. Decide whether cushions or chairs will stay in place under the cover before comparing options.

For air conditioners, identify the exact make and model first. A window unit and a central outdoor unit have different shapes and use requirements. Follow the equipment manufacturer's guidance before choosing a cover.

Compare shape as well as size.

Record the outermost width, depth, and height in one unit. Include high arms, curved backs, thick cushions, and other protruding parts. Compare these with the instructions for the exact cover and size option.

A larger cover is not automatically a better fit. Check the intended clearance, where the bottom edge will sit, and whether fastenings can reach their intended positions. Use only the fitting allowance provided for that specific product.

Read the measuring guide

Look for details you can verify.

Read the description and inspect the photographs for the cover you are considering. Look for its actual fastening features, any designed ventilation openings, and handling instructions. A feature shown on one cover does not establish that it is present on another.

Check the stated weather and use limitations. Do not assume that a cover is waterproof, suitable for every season, or suitable for your equipment from a lifestyle photograph alone.

Make sure the routine works for you.

Read the installation, cleaning, and storage instructions before buying. Plan for dry surfaces before covering, access to fastening points, regular checks underneath, and a dry place to store the cover when it is not in use.

Use an AC cover only while the unit is off and only when the equipment manufacturer permits it. Remove the cover before operation; a heat pump may need to run during winter.

Recheck before choosing.

Review the exact size, color, pack quantity, availability, price, and applicable shipping and return terms. If a measurement is close to a stated limit or the shape is unusual, ask before ordering.

Have your measurements, the cover you are considering, and a description of the shape ready. For equipment, include its make and model.

Ask for help choosing a cover or explore cover types.
